Turn a broad project question into a small, discussable prototype.
Bring a brief or piece of work you have permission to discuss.
The workshop begins with the difference between a topic and a question that can guide a practical exercise. A group chooses one audience, one moment and one thing it hopes to understand. That gives the prototype a reason to exist beyond demonstrating a particular tool or producing an attractive screen.
The second part considers what the group could observe and how those observations would be recorded. Participants should be able to explain what the prototype does not establish as clearly as what they intend to learn.
